External Aided Project (EAP) - Odisha State Road Project (OSRP)
Loan negotiation for the Odisha State Roads Project (OSRP) was completed with World Bank in July, 2008 for an amount of US$ 250 million to take up 461 km of road works in busy corridors of the State identified under OSRP in the 1st phase at an estimated cost of Rs.1431.19 crore. The scheme has a funding pattern of 80:20 World Bank loan and the State Government share for Rs.953.24 crore and Rs.477.95 crore including Rs.197.40 crore as Prorate Charges. The period of implementation of these projects was 5 years. The loan and project agreement was signed in January, 2009 and the loan has been effective since April 15, 2009. Contracts were drawn for implementation of 303 km of road out of the 461 km which include the following roads.

 

  • Berhampur – Taptapani (41 km)

  • Bhawanipatna – Khariar (68km)

  • Chandabali – Bhadrak – Anandapur (88 km)

  • Jagatpur – Chandbali (106 km)

Supervision consultants have been engaged for supervision of the above packages. Work has been completed in two packages and work is going on in other packages.

Also, institutional development activities such as Revision of Codes, Formulation of Strategy for Institutional Strengthening, Road Safety and Governance Accountability Action Plan have been developed simultaneously. There is budget Provision of Rs.210.00 crore for the year 2017-18 and it is targeted to improve 194 km road in the balance stretches.

A new proposal has been submitted to the Government of India for Rs. 1290 crore for taking up balance work of OSRP and improvement of about 600 km of roads and widening of narrow culverts.
